Slow cooker collard greens with ham is low in fat and cholesterol but not lacking in flavor! There is no added salt making it a healthier option than using ham hocks or neck bones. The smoked paprika gives the same smokiness as if a smoked meat was used. Enjoy!
Add the cubed ham, seasonings, onion and turkey stock to the slow cooker. Then add the shredded collard greens and put the lid on.
Set the slow cooker to "HIGH" and let it cook for 4 hours. Stir and enjoy!
Notes
I like and recommend buying uncured ham such as this one. Uncured ham is free of any added chemicals such as nitrates and nitrites. I also like using Palmetto collards from Publix that are bagged and already shredded. I still pick through them once I get home to get out any bad pieces. You can buy Kitchen Basics turkey broth from Wal-Mart.
