Equipment

1 Pastry brush
1 Baking sheet
1 Microwave safe bowl small

Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter, unsalted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon salt, iodized

Instructions

Using the oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and place one of the oven racks in the middle. Place 2 slices of sourdough bread on a baking sheet.
  • Melt butter in a small microwave safe bowl. Start at 20 seconds and increase as needed.
    Microwave times will vary.
  • Add seasonings to butter and mix well with a pastry brush. Equally spread butter mixture between the 2 slices of bread. Bake for 5-7 minutes in the oven.
  • After it bakes for 5-7 minutes, switch the oven to BROIL and continue to let the top brown to your liking. Let cook for 2-3 minutes.
Be careful to not cook too much longer or the bread will get hard.
  • Enjoy warm!

Using the toaster oven

  • Place the tray towards the bottom of the toaster oven.
  • Repeat steps 2-3 from above. Turn the toaster oven on to ~350° and toast for 5-7 minutes.
  • Depending on your toaster oven, you may or may not want to turn the toaster to "TOAST" to brown the top of the bread.
  • Enjoy warm!
