Equipment

Cutting board
Knife
Small pot with lid
Liquid measuring cup

Ingredients

  • ½ cup 100% apple juice
  • 2 large Granny smith apples chopped
  • ground cinnamon as desired
  • ground ginger as desired

Instructions

  • Slice the apple into quarters and then diced it to the size of your liking. I like to leave the skin on the apple so that I can get the fiber boost!
  • Add the apples, the apple juice and a few dashes of cinnamon and ginger to a small stockpot. Bring it to a simmering boil.
  • After it reaches a simmering boil, turn it down to low and cook for no more than 10 minutes. Add more cinnamon and ginger as desired. Stir well after adding the spices.

Notes

  • You may consider adding honey, sugar or maple syrup if the tartness is too much
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week
Ways to eat your stewed apples:
  • Warm it and add on top of my Eggless French Toast recipe
  • Replace the syrup with these stewed apples and eat on top of pancakes, waffles, biscuits or French Toast.
  • Mix in with oatmeal for a sweetener
  • Warm and eat it with a little ice cream for a dessert!
  • Warm and add whip cream on top for a dessert!
  • Stir into Greek yogurt to add flavor and sweetness
