There are so many ways to jazz up granola that the options are endless! But hey, maybe you're looking for a granola recipe without nuts, possibly even without seeds. Some of the main reasons for this could be food allergies or stomach issues where you can't tolerate nuts. You still deserve something delicious...and you're getting it with THIS! Eat up and enjoy.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Ingredients
- Old fashioned oats
- Maple syrup
- Vanilla extract
- Extra light tasting olive oil
- This is very important! The extra light tasting olive oil is great for baking. I wouldn’t use an olive oil for marinades in this recipe. Keep scrolling for what I'd recommend as a substitution.
Equipment
- Sheet pan
- Medium/large bowl
- Spatula
- Measuring spoons and cups
HOW TO MAKE NUT-FREE GRANOLA
This is kind of like a dump recipe.
- Just mix all the ingredients together in your bowl.
- Link your baking sheet with parchment paper for easy clean-up.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 375F. Let it cool without mixing and eat!
For this recipe, I leave the oats close together, just like it's pictured below. It pretty much helps to create some clusters and leaving it alone to cool is the key to getting crunchy granola!
VARIATIONS/SUBSTITUTIONS
Oil
- If you don't have extra light tasting olive oil for baking then you can use canola oil
Sweetener
- Honey can be used if you don't have pure maple syrup on hand
Mix-ins
I chose to keep this recipe pretty simple, but you can definitely add some yummy foods to it. Below are some suggestions.
- Raisins/craisins
- Coconut flakes
- Milk chocolate chips/dark chocolate chips/white chocolate chips
- Add these at the very end once your granola has cooled so they don't melt
- Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
- Sunflower seeds or any other type of seeds that you like
HOW TO EAT GRANOLA
Besides the obvious choice of eating granola with yogurt, granola can be eaten in other ways!
- On top of a plain cereal such as bran flakes or cheerios for extra flavor/sweetness!
- As a snack all by itself
- Eat granola with a cheese stick for a balanced snack!
- Sprinkled on top of cooked oatmeal, muesli, or cream of wheat for a crunch
- Sprinkled on top of a smoothie bowl
HOW TO STORE
You'll want to store your granola in a container with a tight lid to help keep it fresh. Eat within one week for maximum freshness. It probably won't last much longer than that since it's so good!
Granola can be stored on your counter or in the pantry.

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical of this at first. Olive oil seemed weird and that seemed like a lot of vanilla, but it turned out so yummy! I needed a basic, nut free granola and this was perfect!
